Put a box beside an expensive cat bed and the box often wins. Its purpose is instantly legible. Great interfaces work the same way: the primary action should look usable before a person has to stop and interpret it.

2. Respect attention instead of demanding it

Cats engage on their own terms. Products should too. Useful notifications arrive at the right moment and then get out of the way. If every event is urgent, your users will learn to ignore all of them.

3. Build trust through predictable behavior

A cat approaches a new room carefully because surprises carry a cost. People treat unfamiliar software similarly. Consistent controls, reversible actions, and clear feedback turn uncertainty into confidence.

4. Leave room for exploration

The best products guide without trapping. A clear starting point matters, but so does the freedom to look around, test an idea, and return safely. Good defaults and forgiving navigation make exploration feel inexpensive.

5. Comfort is a feature

Speed and capability matter, but so does how a product feels after an hour of use. Calm typography, sensible spacing, and fewer interruptions reduce cognitive load. A comfortable product is one people are willing to live with.
